Be A Leader

Senior Madie Martens, reflecting back on her high school career, owes a lot of her success to her leadership roles.  Madie has competed in cross country for three years and is looking forward to being a captain this upcoming track season, her fourth season on the team.  On top of her athletic success, Madie currently leads by example as a Student Council officer.  “Leadership is more than just your sport or your activity; it’s about creating value for others, and anyone can do that.”  Madie’s commitment to being a leader has not only made her more appreciative of the little things, but has helped others around her feel more appreciated.  Madie acknowledges that everyone is going through something, whether they look like it or not.  This could be academic struggles, athletic setbacks or emotional problems.  Madie’s piece of advice to help others with these challenges:  be a leader.  Madie is devoted in everything she does, and devoted to everyone around her.  It’s what’s in Madie’s heart that she feels is important.  She prides herself in serving as a leader in the school, and with that, commits herself to helping others around her facing adversity. Even just a simple smile can help brighten someone’s day.
